A Gorgeous Maine Wedding We Can't Stop Staring At

Sometimes the best wedding backdrop isn’t an elaborate banquet hall or city view terrace, but Mother Nature herself. This is especially true when you’re lucky enough to get hitched in the gorgeous New England countryside.

When brides Paige and Ashley (who also shared their touching nuptials on 2Brides2Be) tied the knot in Paige's idyllic hometown of Verona Island, ME, last summer, they enlisted help from friends and family to throw a 200-person outdoor bash.

The couple said their vows in a family member’s backyard, under towering trees and a picture perfect sunset. From the VW bug covered in florals to the ombre cake, everything about their day was Pinterest-worthy.

"Our wedding day was the most beautiful day. It was romantic, fun, and crazy,” Ashley tells Refinery29. “It was awesome how everyone came together."

We can’t stop starting at the gorgeous pics — see them for yourself, ahead.

The ceremony took place around 4 p.m., when the sun was just in the right spot.

"Everything came together perfectly and just how I imagined," says Ashley. "It was a beautiful day, clear skies at about 80 to 85 degrees. We were so scared that it was going to rain on our wedding day, but it was so hot! Everything played out just as we wanted, though."

Here come the brides! Paige and Ashley went dress shopping together — and clearly, they found their perfect gowns.

"Ashley and I decided we wanted to wedding dress shop together," says Paige. "I needed her help, and she needed mine. After all, we are best friends. We both got our dresses at David's Bridal. Ashley loved every single dress she tried on, but when she found the one, we all knew it. She stayed in it, walking around for two hours without even realizing."

The bridesmaids wore similar blush-pink gowns from Weddington Way.

"It wasn’t your typical wedding, so it wasn’t your typical wedding party. We had a very large, diverse wedding party. We had 16 people total, eight on each side," says Ashley.

The brides take a moment to pose with their son, Connor.

"Our number one is our 6-year-old son. We live each day for him and he is what keeps us busy and young," says Ashley.

The bridal party in all its glory.

The florist accidentally doubled the couple's flower order, and as a result, this petal covered bug was born.

"Paige's father purchased this for her mom," says Ashley. "I have been obsessed with it since I laid my eyes on it. I was happy to add it to our wedding. We scattered it with flowers and parked it right next to the cigar bar."

Pictures were snapped at the home of the photographer's family.

"The property was incredible. They had a huge red barn, a beautiful pond, a massive flower garden, fields, big rocks, and tractors. Our pictures came out amazing."

The look of love.

The women opted for this subtle, toned-down version of an ombre cake.

"The cake turned out absolutely beautiful and I heard from plenty of guests it was delicious," says Ashley. "The top part of the cake is in the freezer, ready to eat on our one-year anniversary."

Guests got to keep these little custom matchbooks as mementos of the celebration.

A dress that good requires a selfie.
