The Beyoncé Costumes That Aren’t Tired In A Post-Lemonade World

In 2016, it's not easy coming up with a Beyoncé costume that hasn't been done a million times over. Sorry, the world just doesn't need another "Single Ladies" getup this Halloween.

But seeing as Lemonade is not even a year old yet, there is real opportunity to upgrade all those tired costumes of years past. Like Beyoncé has done herself, it's time to take those lemons you were served and make some Lemonade- themed costumes. To help inspire you, we've come up with a few different looks that go way beyond being Becky with the good hair.

Some of these DIY costumes channel her epic looks from the visual album. Others allow you to put your own spin on some of Bey's best post- Lemonade pop culture moments. Oh yes, and there are some opportunities to get very crafty here. Bey is never basic, after all.

Click ahead and get ready to slay Halloween like the Queen.

Soul Train Beyoncé

Beyoncé’s 35th birthday party was a glamorous sight to behold and it’s one that could be the inspiration behind your 2016 Halloween costume.

Beyoncé had a few costumes over the course of her Soul Train themed birthday, giving you more to choose from. Though it will be hard to decide whether you should wear the black multicolored sequined top with pink hot pants or the yellow blouse with the sparkly golden hot pants and gold-rimmed glasses.

Hey, why choose? just plan to wear them both

Don’t think you’re royal enough to be Beyoncé herself? Then wear your best ’70s garb and tell everyone you’re a guest at Beyoncé’s Soul Train party.

A Beyoncé Glass Of Lemonade

Sure, you could dress up in one of the many looks from one of her music videos, but you could also just be a nice cool glass of actual lemonade.

Yep, it’s time to go literal with this costume that honors her most recent album. All yellow everything is the first step, with the second being to construct a glass or pitcher to hold all that lemonade.

Think, a clear shower curtain that you can wrap around yourself like a skirt that will double as a glass.

Have fun with your makeup and hair adding all the gold glitter you feel necessary. Also, don’t think using real or faux lemons as accessories is out of order. This is Halloween after all.

“Formation” Beyoncé

For this costume, you just need to find the perfect wide-brimmed hat. Beyoncé’s is one of a kind, as her tour designer Marni Senofonte revealed on Facebook, but you can find a look-alike at ASOS or Macy’s that will do just fine (and won’t break the bank).

From there, the look is up to you. Go full-on “Formation” with a mix of silver bracelets, layers of chokers and a black off-the-shoulder dress. Or, go high fashion and copy Beyoncé’s look from the 2016 CFDA Awards: a glittery pantsuit and a high-collared black shirt.

If you'd prefer to do something a little more casual, steal Bey’s basketball game look with just a pair of ripped jeans, black tank top and a leather jacket wrapped around your shoulders. Side-eye totally optional.

Then, just pull your hat down over your eyes, swipe on a deep burgundy shade of lipstick and you’re ready to slay all day.

“Hold Up” Beyoncé

Bey wore Roberto Cavalli, but you just need to find a ruffled yellow dress like this or this to channel her look in this video. Then grab a baseball bat, write “Hot Sauce” on it, and take to the streets.

Just don’t take things too far and smash out anyone’s car windows, okay?

Hot Sauce In Beyoncé’s Bag

Beyoncé may or may not actually carry hot sauce in her bag, but either way, her “Formation” line makes for a pretty good costume.

Buy yourself a shirt that shouts out Tabasco, Sriracha, or your other favorite brand. If you’re feeling crafty, dress all in red and make a hot-sauce label of your own choosing. Extra points if it’s Beyoncé-themed.

Kick things up a notch and craft a literal bag of Beyoncé’s that you can drape yourself in all night long. Or, just carry around this tote bag, we won't judge.

Ivy Park Beyoncé

All you need to do is rock Ivy Park anything: a sweatshirt, leggings, a crop top. If you’re feeling yourself, take a page from Beyoncé’s lookbook and just rock that Ivy Park bodysuit.

Take another look at Beyoncé’s epic commercial for some inspiration on how to work it out in your Ivy Park. Jogging around an actual park in costume is not out of the question.

Beyoncé Boycotter

Beyoncé perfectly responded to her haters with her “Boycott Beyoncé” tour merch, and now you can be one of those detractors she was twirling on.

While you could just wear one of the boycott shirts you bought at her show, you could also take it one step further. Make your own T-shirts and picket signs that express your disdain for Queen Bey in the most tongue-in-cheek way possible. Just think of all the fun you can have making up fake anti-Bey slogans.

Turn this into a group costume by asking your friends to get in formation and boycott Beyoncé, too.

An Overzealous Beyoncé Fan

Don’t want to be a hater? Then be a lover of Beyoncé instead. With all the amazing merch she’s selling on her Formation World Tour, this is a chance for you to wear it all. Not to mention any other Bey-centric piece of clothing or accessories that you’ve collected over the years.

Layer on all your favorite swag to show how crazy in love with Bey you are. Seriously, the sky’s the limit here. Then do a whole lot of screaming and perhaps a bit of crying. Paint your face or carry a sign, it’s your choice what kind of Beyoncé fan you get to be this Halloween.

Take this to the next level and carry your own set of speakers to bring Beyoncé with you wherever you go. Just don’t get caught playing Pokémon Go — no real Beyoncé fan appreciates that.

Beyoncé’s Sneeze

Want a Beyoncé-themed costume that’s a little more abstract and allows you to express your full creativity? Then become the sneeze that proved she’s actually human after all.

In my mind, this costume looks something like what she wore to pick up her Video of the Year award at the 2016 MTV VMAs. It’s all-white, it’s a bit billowy, and it will freely move in the wind.

Pin a few bees to your outfit, or iron on some of these Lemonade -themed patches Bey is selling. Go even further and print out a few small photos of Beyoncé and add those to your look.

Maybe you want to add a little shine to your face for an ethereal glow, since Beyoncé’s sneeze may be human, but it still feels otherworldly. Or do something entirely different. That’s the best part about this costume, it can look like anything your heart desires.
