10 Things I've Bought Because Of Instagram

I'm just going to go out there and say it: I prefer shopping on Instagram to shopping in-store or online. Hear me out. On the social media app, there's no million tabs or pages to scroll through; it allows me to see the pieces styled in a real way, on a real person (not a fit model), and I can often click through directly to the item I like through the brand's page, rather than aimlessly searching the web and not really falling in love with anything.

Whether it's a blogger who styled a piece in a way that's so cool it makes me want to try it for myself, or an under-the-radar brand I discover while lost in a late-night Instagram black hole, I'm finding myself shopping more thanks to this social platform. And even though my wallet might hate me for it, I don't see myself going back to my typical online browsing ways anytime soon. To see the items I've scooped up recently, click ahead — once you've feasted your eyes on these 10 pieces, your current shopping strategy might just become a thing of the past, too.

StyleMafia Gingham Button-Up

The sleeves! The gingham! Ugh — is there such thing as a more perfect blouse? As soon as I saw this top on blogger Olivia Lopez (who's one of the few I still follow regularly), I clicked through and ordered one for myself. And, I'm glad I did — it turned out the brand, StyleMafia, had a ton of other gems to discover, too.

Cult Gaia Ark Bag

To a basket-bag obsessive, this little guy is a work of art. It holds just the essentials, but makes every outfit look like it stepped out of the most perfect 1960s catalogue. And, even when I'm not using it, it looks cute sitting in my room as decoration (yes, I bought it for both practical and aesthetic purposes). Seen here on Haley Boyd, creative director of shoe brand Marais, it looks every bit the cutest handbag for summer, hands down.

Silk Laundry Slip Dress

The search for the perfect slip dress was a long one for me, but it ended when I stumbled upon the brand Silk Laundry on Instagram. Instead of trying to make a million things, the label sells a few silk styles and does them really, really well — these pieces are soft as butter. And, its slips are perfect for layering over tees, like I did here.

Jenny Bird Rise Hoops

Hoop earrings are back in a big way, y'all — but, not just any old style. These trippy double-hoops have one on the front, and one that's attached to the backing of the earring, creating one next-level ear statement. I love pairing these with simple jeans and a tee to take things up a notch.

Miista Bow Slid es

I practically lost all control when I laid eyes on these oversized bow slides — it was like the summer fashion gods thought, "Hmm, what's Alyssa's ideal summer sandal?" and created this flawless pair of shoes. I blacked out and ran (literally) over to The Frankie Shop to hand over my money and take these babies home.

Huf Flags T-shirt

I'm not a skateboarder, but a girl can dream, right? I've been super into skate brands and graphics lately, so this long-sleeved Huf flags tee was a no-brainer when I saw it on ShopSuperStreet's 'gram. And at only $34, there was no guilt involved — win, win. (Oh, and here I am wearing it already).

Pintrill "Naps" Pin

This enamel pin resonates with me on a personal level — in fact, my life motto is, "Naps: Just do it." So, as soon as I saw this pin on Instagram I scooped one up for myself and one for my best friend. Sure, it might not have been the most logical $30 I've ever spent, but I don't live life with regrets.

Adidas Trackpants

My style isn't typically very tomboy, but there's something amazing about how many different ways a classic pair of skinny trackpants can be styled. Whether with heels and a blouse like Courtney Trop (pictured here), or with Birks and a blazer, these might just be replacing my jeans for the next few months.

J. Hannah x Winden Fine Necklace

Aside from the occasional statement earring, I usually put on delicate, gold jewelry only. And, I love a good girl-boss collab, like this necklace by Jess of J. Hannah and Becca of Winden Jewelry, which is a play on Jess' slogan, "Fine Jewelry For Fine Ladies." I haven't taken it off since I got it a few months ago, and it's still bringing in the compliments.

Levi's Re/Done Jeans

Everyone wants to find the perfect pair of vintage Levi's, right? So, while yes, a few hundred dollars is admittedly way too much for anyone to spend on them, Re/Done's endless Instagrams of well-fitted behinds eventually convinced me to splurge on a pair (that, and trying and failing to find a pair that fit me that well at a vintage shop). Honestly, my butt's never been the same.
