It's fairly easy to see what's trending when you're just looking at one social channel: Instagram girls favor #ootds with off-the-shoulder shirts and mom jeans, while Pinners are more into spring dresses with flower crowns. Peach fans favor label tees and thrift-store basics, and it's impossible to check Snapchat without seeing a very specific flavor of Kylie Jenner-approved athleisure.
If you look at all of social media, though, a different story emerges — a pretty accurate story of the style that's going on in every corner of the country. We tapped Social Context Labs , a company focusing on social research, to scrape the web and find the most popular trends by state. Surprisingly, the trends are fairly consistent — a marker, perhaps, of how the internet has homogenized style all over the place.
Pulling data from various blogs, forums, Instagram, Twitter, public Facebook, YouTube, and news sites, Social Context Labs came back with the most popular trends online. They also found where most people were tweeting, Liking, and posting about these fashion looks. Ahead, the top seven trends America is lusting after. Spoiler alert: Beyoncé has major pull.
Vintage Fashion
It's no secret that many fashion editors rely on vintage finds to flesh out a wardrobe — especially since most of these pieces are one of a kind. Vintage dresses, in particular, were most popular in New Hampshire , North Dakota , and Wyoming . These states, it seems, have figured out the secret to sustainable and surprising style.

Etsy Jewelry
Etsy jewelry was the most popular trend in New Mexico , South Carolina , and Utah . While this might feel similar to vintage fashion, the key draw here is the handmade aspect of the online retailer, known for sleek, stackable rings and surprisingly affordable jewelry.

Adidas
Continuing along the athleisure theme, Adidas was the next most popular trend. Indiana , Rhode Island , Washington , Alabama , and Connecticut all favored the brand (both Alabama and Connecticut talked about Adidas Superstars the most). Meanwhile, Iowa was into both Nike and Adidas.
"[There was an] explosion in Adidas discussions," Ed Dilworth of Social Context Labs told us. "They already have the Superstars which are really popular, but [you] also have a couple other brands that launched that were very hot in athleisure wear. In particular [there was] a pink pair that people loved." We totally called it.

Boho Dresses
As the antithesis to athleisure, boho dresses dial up the pretty, and plenty of states are into these peasant-style, billowy frocks: Pennsylvania , Kentucky , California , Maryland , North Carolina , Oregon , Vermont , Wisconsin , and Colorado (which also, data shows, favored boho accessories). Pennsylvania seemed into a trend labeled as "boho chic," while Kentucky was more into what Social Context Labs describes as "boho grunge."

Yoga gear and leggings were by far the most popular trends talked about in 19 states: Arkansas , Florida , Hawaii , Illinois , Kansas , Louisiana , Maine , Michigan , Minnesota , Mississippi , Missouri , Montana , Nebraska , Ohio , Oklahoma , South Dakota , Texas , Virginia , and West Virginia . The main takeaway, then, might just be that comfort beats all.
