Once upon a time, before Spotify playlists were a thing, a person had to actually make a decision about what music made it to their make out soundtrack. Some of those same persons would go on to score their first time, plucking the perfect track from the millions of songs in the universe to which they wanted to officially lose their virginity.
Yes, this is a thing. (Probably a wise one, given all the noisy stuff that happens the first time you have sex that is best muffled by a bit of background noise.) And for those of us who gave up the V-card after 1996, there was at least one perfect musical choice to make for that moment: "Crash," by Dave Matthews Band.
The song — and the record — celebrate its 20th anniversary on April 30. In honor of a song that '90s teens, twentysomethings and lovers all around likely banged to back in the day, we've collected our favorite "first time" tracks, including "Crash," for your listening pleasure. And if it puts you in the mood... Well, we would consider that a success.
The song: "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" by D'Angelo
Why it's a great sexy time tune: "How does it feel?" is a pretty good question to ask yourself — and your partner — in the midst of your intimate moments. This song is also great because it's just vague enough to understand what he's saying most of the time for things not to get awkward.

The song: "Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden
Why it's a great sexy time tune: " I want to stand with you on a MOUNTAIN. I want to bathe with you in the sea." OKAY.

The song: "Drive" by Incubus
Why it's a great sexy time tune: It may or may not remind you of making out in the car with the radio on, which is its own form of an aphrodisiac .

The song: "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Sometimes being direct yields better (and quicker) results than subliminal messaging. Plus, you can dance beforehand.

The song: "Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Well, it's about sex, but like the drama/adrenaline-filled sex of your early years. This one goes out to all our emo babes from back in the day!

The song: "Pony" by Ginuwine
Why it's a great sexy time tune: For obvious reasons. You understand.

The song: "I Touch Myself" by The Divinyls
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Sure, it might have been a little bit of a strange lose-your-virginity track. But if you're in a self-love kind of mood, it's actually pretty perfect.

The song: "Adorn" by Miguel
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Miguel is a master of the modern sexy song that doesn't make you feel too cheesy. Coincidentally, this is also an excellent drunk dancing in the kitchen track.

The song: "Crystalised" by The xx
Why it's a great sexy time tune: If you are going to have one of those intense state-into-one-another's-eyes sessions, you could pick a worse background tune.

The song: "Want You Bad" by The Offspring
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Self-explanatory.

The song: "Thinking About You" by Frank Ocean
Why it's a great sexy time tune: We're warning you not to put on this video when you're trying to get in the mood. But that rhythmic bass is spot-on make out music.

The song: "Pillowtalk" by Zayn Malik
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Nobody but you, 'body but me, 'body but us. Bodies together.

The Song: "Like a Virgin" by Madonna
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Irony?

The song: "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You" by Heart
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Again — sometimes that direct message is really the best way to go when it comes to getting busy.

The song: "Love in This Club" by Usher
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Because sometimes you want to make love like you're in the club. Except like, at home. In bed. Or on the couch. Just anywhere that's not a scuzzy club bathroom or a public dance floor because that's not good for anyone.

The song: "Tonight's The Night" by Rod Stewart
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Why wouldn't you put this one on and hope that tonight would be the night? For folks who want a slightly softer treatment to the track, we recommend Janet Jackson's version ..

The song: "More Than A Feeling" by Boston
Why it's a great sexy time tune: Well, theoretically because at this point whatever you're up to is more than a feeling...

The song: "Crash Into Me" by Dave Matthews Band
Why it's a great sexy time tune: There's no explaining it. Just sit back and let the sweet DMB melodies wash over you.
